1) Clear the clutter.
In the the kitchen put away any appliances you don’t use regularly. This means blenders, toasters and other smaller appliaces! In the bedrooms go through the closets and take out what you don’t wear. Consider donating the clothing and box up seasonal clothing. Around the rest of the home store furniture you don’t use – like end tables, chairs, bookshelves and cabinets. It will make it easier for buyers to navigate through your home.
2) Make Repairs and Improvements
Repair broken items such as doors, windows and holes in the wall. Make updates to old appliances and fixtures with inexpensive basics. Add a fresh coat of paint in a neutral color that will brighten and revive the homes interior.
3) Consider staging
Staging uses rented furniture and decor to accentuate the features and make the buyers feel more at home. It also can improve the flow of the home. In a competitive market it can make a home really stand out.
4) Boost curb appeal
Paint the exterior for an inexpensive makeover. Tend to your landscaping. Pulling weeds or even just mowing can make a big difference. Keep your walkways swept clean as well.
5) Put away personal items
If it is valuable, store it. Showings can happen suddenly and you don’t want to worry about things being broken. Store fixtures you don’t plan to sell with the home. If your heirloom sconces or crystal chandelier won’t be selling with the home, store it and replace it with something less expensive.
